Creative Characters Profiled In National Magazine

Creative Characters has been featured in the prestigious national magazine Quick Printing.  The company is the subject of an article entitled “Creative Characters Finds a Path to Growth” published in the February 2014 edition. It tells of how Marya and Brigid Kaye, founders and owners of Creative Characters, broke through the glass ceiling of their careers to start their business in Philadelphia and the success that has ensued. They were initially tempted to move up North by a friend with a company in Manhattan. That eventually led them to Philadelphia and to owning their company, Creative Characters.

Creative Characters has evolved over the years. Today, Marya and Brigid Kaye are steering Creative Characters toward providing a comprehensive suite of services for marketing small to medium sized businesses. Brigid says, “Our primary purpose is to create success for our clients. We develop creative, innovative, results-based marketing solutions for business challenges. We help communicate the clients’ message through print, websites, social media, landing pages, email marketing, direct mail, brochures, signage, and more. We put our strategic marketing expertise, award-winning graphic design and copy writing, and skilled execution to work for our clients every day.”

4 Things You Need to Understand About SEO

You don't need to know everything, but you do need to know something about SEO.
Without search engine optimization (SEO), your website might never be found. It’s an important part of any online marketing strategy. When people look for your products or services, the first place they’re going to go is to a search engine, like Google, Yahoo or Bing. While larger companies can afford to hire an in house team for SEO optimization, that’s not the case usually for small to medium size companies. A more realistic solution for most companies is to hire a company handle your SEO. However, the client still has some responsibility. Signing on the dotted line, does not mean your work is done. The client must be involved for SEO to be successful.

Here are 4 things that clients need to understand when hiring a company to handle your SEO:

1. Understand how SEO works in general.

You don’t need to understand everything about SEO, but it is in your best interest to have basic knowledge of how it works. This helps you make better decisions when selecting the company to handle your SEO. There are a lot of SEO companies to choose from and each one does things a little bit differently. Your company is best served by a “white hat” company which is a company that strictly follows the Google Webmaster Guidelines. There is a lot of information online to help you understand SEO. Google’s SEO Starters Guide for Beginners is a great place to start. 2. Know what the process looks like

Unlike other marketing strategies, it’s not possible to provide immediate results and ROI, like with ad campaigns and promotional postcards. That takes some getting used to for most clients. SEO is a strategy that works over time. It typically takes 6 months or more to see any kind of improvement because the success of an SEO strategy is primarily based on the trust of your website. Just like a business relationship, trust isn’t an instant thing. It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time to build trust in business and it takes time to build the quality inbound links that will bring trust to your website.

3. Your ongoing involvement is critical to SEO success

You play are a big part of the success of the SEO strategy. While we may know SEO, we don’t know your particular business even half as good as you do. You need to provide input and feedback every step of the way for things like content creation, for instance. You know your business and you know your customers. You speak your customers’ language. We have to rely on your knowledge to be able to create the kind of content that your customers will be searching for. The last thing we ever want is to head in the wrong direction which can result in the wrong kind of visitors coming to your website. You can prevent that by being an available resource.

4. Some things can’t be controlled

And then there’s what others are doing in the market. It contributes more than you might think to SEO success. Endurance and longevity are key factors in a successful SEO effort. The things you cannot control are your competitors. You can’t control their online marketing or how long they’ve been doing it. You cannot control how long they’ve had a website. If your competitors have been in the online space longer than you, be aware that it’s going to take some time to gain traction. The good news is that it’s not impossible. It’s definitely possible, in the long term with concentrated efforts over time, to conquer even the most entrenched competitor with an SEO strategy that is consistent and focused.
